          | The pairing of Steve Martin and John Candy in this John Hughes film is
what really made the film so funny.  The way the two actors played off
of each other was brilliant.  The scenarios presented in the film are
ridiculous, funny and original all at the same time.  Steve Martin
plays an uptight businessman trying to get home for the holidays.
Somehow he runs into John Candy and that's where the fun begins.  The
two travel together utilizing every means of transportation imaginable
including driving down the highway in a burnt-out shell of a car.  As
annoying as John Candy's character is to Steve Martin's throughout the
film, Steve somehow takes a liking to him by the end of the movie.  I
took a liking to this movie the first time I saw it and still can't
help but laugh every time I see it. |
