| Hey, would it really be that far of a stretch
for a volcano to just pop up in L.A.? Not as far as the
creators of this movie are concerned. And let's not forget
the gullible masses that went to see it. Tommy Lee Jones and
Anne Heche star in this special effects extravaganza that features
the La Brea Tar Pits and Los Angeles as the starting point of
something that becomes pretty big. Big and nasty that is!
As with all disaster pictures, you have your panicking public,
heroes (Jones and Heche) and the countless government officials
who attempt to hold everything together. Needless to say, the effects are
great. Very realistic. The story itself is not as
realistic a scenario as the one presented in Dante's Peak
(which came out the same year) but the story takes off right from
the get go. Which is great for those people who don't want
to wait around too long for the action to start. |
