Released:1976

This is the last movie that John Wayne made, and what a way to go out.  Wayne's character is an old gunfighter dying of a terminal illness. There are a lot of parallels with this movie and Wayne's own life because it wasn't long after that Wayne himself had died. In this movie, the Duke plays John Bernard Books, a legendary gunfighter who returns to Carson City to receive medical attention from his old friend Doc Hostetler (played by James Stewart). Wayne's character checks into a boarding house run by a widow (Lauren Bacall) and her son (Ron Howard). Thinking he'd just die in peace, he ends up going out in a blaze of gunfire instead. You gotta see this if you're a fan of Wayne's.
