| Young Frankenstein is probably Mel
Brooks' funniest movie. The movie was a spoof on classic
horror that only Brooks could pull off to such a degree of
hilarity. My favorite scene was the one in which Gene
Hackman played the blind hermit who pours hot soup on the monster
(played by Peter Boyle), sets his thumb on fire and more.
Although, there were so many great scenes to choose from.
Peter Boyle was an excellent choice for the part of the monster
but the other wise casting choices were: Gene Wilder as Dr.
Frederick Frankenstein, Terri Garr as his assistant and Marty
Feldman as Igor. There were many other great performances in
this movie, like those provided by Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman
and Kenneth Mars. I can honestly say that there aren't many
occasions where a comedy possesses a script of this caliber.
As a matter of fact, the screenplay itself (written by Wilder and
Brooks) was nominated for an Oscar. After viewing this movie
numerous times (and its still funny), I can see why. |
