This is actually more of an anti-war movie rather than a war movie.
Regardless as to what your personal feelings or positions were
regarding the Vietnam War, this is a good movie to see. It gives a
glimpse into the lives of Vietnam veterans as they come home to face a
society divided on the conflict in which they had just made such great
sacrifices. It's based on the life of Ron Kovic, a veteran who
eagerly volunteered for the Vietnam War, became paralyzed and
eventually emerged as a voice for the disenchanted. Tom Cruise
provides one of his best performances in this film. |
