| Platoon won the Oscar for Best
Picture and features a fine cast. Tom Berenger became the
sergeant you'd love to hate, Willem Dafoe was the likeable
sergeant you'd hate to see meet the fate he met, and Charlie Sheen
starred in his best role ever. Platoon presents the Vietnam
War as a confusing mass of chaos and madness. It wasn't the
typical war movie where every guy on our side is good. But I
think that particular element adds a certain realism to the movie. I
think that is just one of the elements that makes the film stand
out as much as it does. |
