Dances with wolves won the Best Picture Oscar and was
Kevin Costner's crowning achievement . Both as director
and actor. Costner plays the role of an Army lieutenant
who volunteers to serve at a remote army post located on the
vanishing western frontier. It is there that he meets
native Americans and forms a close relationship with them.
The Indians are a little leery at first but come to respect and
admire this particular white man, even as they fear the coming
of more. The name of the film comes from a scene where the
injuns see Costner playing with a wolf by chasing it around and
vise versa. Technically he wasn't really dancing with the
wolf, like doing the Charleston or the twist, but it is a must
see film never-the-less. One extremely well deserved Best
Picture Oscar. |
