| The Bridge on the River Kwai is about a
Japanese POW camp during World war II. The Allied POW's are
assigned the task of building a bridge for their Japanese captors.
David Niven plays the part of an allied officer who takes great
pride in building a quality bridge. William Holden plays a
prisoner who escapes from the camp, only to be assigned the task
of returning to the camp to blow up the bridge. It makes for
a great, climactic ending. To quote one of the characters:
"It's madness I say, madness!" |
