| Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones are superb
in this television mini-series. What I think Lonesome Dove
symbolizes is the dedication of true friendship displayed in the
form of a promise kept. And man does Tommy Lee Jones endure a
lot for the sake of keeping that promise. However, the
mini-series has more than that to offer. You have your villain,
occasional unexpected plot twists, some shooting, hangings, a
journey through Indian territory, flying arrows, gangrene, snake
bites, and a great cast that includes: Robert Urich, Angelica
Huston, Danny Glover, Rick Schroeder, Diane Lane and more. There
is a reason why Lonesome Dove won so many Emmys: It's
simply that good. If you ain't bawling all over yourself when
Tommy Lee starts a cryin' then I guess you just don't have a
heart. |
